Job Overview:

|
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager to join one of the UK’s most successful independent aerospace and defence engineering consultancies. The Project Manager will join the Aerospace Systems Business Unit, specialising in aircraft systems development and shall be instrumental in managing and maintaining the growth seen within the Company.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of a number of projects to time, cost and quality objectives and be the main point of contact for customers whilst leading the project teams. The position will be based at the Company’s Filton based offices in Bristol with occasional visits to customer sites.

Key Accountabilities:
|
|
Reporting to the Business Unit Manager and/or programme Lead in the :
- Planning, delivery and closedown of projects to agreed budget, timescale and quality objectives, working in accordance with Contract Requirements and the defined Business Unit framework and procedures; reporting to Business Manager when tolerances are at risk of being exceeded.
- (Working with the Programme Technical Lead) motivating and co-ordinating the project teams, and ensuring that the Business Unit strategy, policy and direction is clear and understood.
- Management and control the contract change process with the customer.
- Preparation of all project management planning documentation, including quality, technical and budget plans and monitoring the recording and maintenance of all project records (electronic and paper).
- Preparation of company level reports including, invoice and expenditure forecasting, as directed and for review by the Business Unit Manager.
- When delegated as Bid Manager, coordination and preparation of technical proposal with the engineering team with direct responsibility for planning, development of price and the management and commercial content.
- Building and maintaining of strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and appropriate internal departments.
- Development and implementation of Best Practice methods across all project teams.
- Establishment of an interface between Business Unit and Stirling Operations group – quality, commercial, procurement, accounts, IT to maximise project efficiency.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
|
|
Essential
- Proven track record of project management within an engineering environment.
- Proven ability to manage high value, high complexity projects delivering to time, budget and scope constraints
- Excellent leadership skills.
- Proven interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.
- Proven background of working within a quality environment, such as is ISO9001:2000, AS9100 or EN9100.
- Ability to gain security clearance to SC level.
Desirable
- Experience of aircraft certification processes or an understanding of aircraft loads or systems is desirable.
- Experience within the Aerospace Engineering industry.
- PRINCE2 Practitioner or MSP qualified is desirable but not essential.
