Advanced Simulation and Analysis for Extreme Environments
Stirling is actively involved insupporting a range of energy markets including subsea oil and gas, marine renewables and energy from waste.
Subsea Oil and Gas
Stirling offer simulation and modelling of the whole life of the field from initial FEED study to decommissioning:
1. Software, Simulation and Modelling
- Surface vessels and underwater vehicle navigation and control systems
- Modelling of pipelines, process equipment and hydraulics
- Virtual instrumentation and bespoke software development
2. Control systems development
- Hydraulic/electrical distribution and actuation system
- Control algorithm design
3. Condition Monitoring
- System design and algorithm development
- Retrofit application for existing subsea extraction facilities
4. Risk
- Modelling, simulation and analysis
5. Flow assurance
- Modelling simulation and analysis
6. Remote underwater vehicles (ROV)
- Combination of Stirling’s active control technology with submarine autopilot to allow for heightened control of ROV, providing force feedback/active cues for pilot
- Development of automated response for ROV hydraulic failure, incorporating fault detection, isolation and a resultant response system
Marine Renewables
Much of the domain knowledge from oil and gas will be relevant in marine renewables, with specific focus on condition monitoring of subsea energy generating devices.
Energy from Waste
Stirling are currently developing condition monitoring applications for waste infrastructure, and consultancy services focused on process optimisation.
