Market-Leading Hover & Variable Ballast Systems for Submarines and UUVs

Stirling Hover and Variable Ballast Systems provide automatic control of the trim and compensation plant to provide automatic depth control at low speeds.  Both continuous operation and discrete systems can be controlled:

  • Low speed depth control with hydroplanes inactive 0kts to 3kts:
    • Depth control in a sea state
    • Depth change capability
    • Steady state pitch angle control
    • Disturbance rejection due to:
      • Density changes
      • Stores release
  • Depth control at 3kts and above in parallel with hydroplane control, providing disturbance rejection due to:
    • Stores release
    • Density changes
    • Compressibility effects
